Your Questions Answered

What is a doula, and what do they do?

A Doula is a trained professional who provides emotional, physical, and informational support during pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. I work alongside you, your partner and your chosen medical team to help you feel calm, prepared, and empowered throughout your journey. You can find more information about Doula's and their role in pregnancy, birth and postpartum on the Australian Doulas Website.

How is a Doula different from a midwife?

Midwives are medically trained professionals who oversee the clinical aspects of birth, such as monitoring the baby’s heart rate and handling medical interventions if needed. A Doula, on the other hand, focuses on your emotional and physical comfort, providing continuous support through every step of your journey but does not provide medical care.

Can I have a Doula if I’m planning a hospital birth?

Absolutely. I support births in hospitals or at home.

My role is to enhance your experience, regardless of where you choose to give birth.

Do I need a Doula if I already have a supportive partner?

Yes! I compliment your partner’s support by helping them feel confident in their role, providing practical tips, and ensuring you both feel connected during the birth.

What if I plan to have an epidural or other medical interventions?

A Doula supports all birth preferences, including those involving medical pain relief or planned interventions.

My goal is to ensure you feel informed, comfortable, and in control of your choices.

What happens during the postpartum visits?

During postpartum visits, I provide tailored support to help you adjust to life with your baby. This includes:

  • Breastfeeding or feeding assistance

  • Settling and sleep tips

  • Light housework and/or meal preparation

  • Emotional support and a listening ear

  • Birth debrief’s

What areas do you serve?

I support families in Dubbo, NSW, and surrounding areas.

If you’re unsure if I can assist in your location, please get in touch.

How soon should I hire a Doula?

It’s never too early to secure your spot, as I work with a limited number of families each month to provide personalised care. Many clients book me early in their pregnancy, but I’m happy to support you at any stage if availability allows.

Can I customise a package to meet my needs?

Of course! All my packages can be tailored to suit your specific circumstances, preferences, and family dynamics.

Let’s discuss what works best for you.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes. I understand the financial commitment of welcoming a baby and offer flexible payment options.

What should I bring up during our prenatal visits?

Prenatal visits are your time to prepare and ask questions. We can cover topics such as:

  • Your birth preferences and hopes

  • Natural and medical pain relief options

  • Partner roles during labour

  • What to pack for the hospital

What happens if my labour starts unexpectedly?

I’m on-call 24/7 during your due month, so I’ll be ready to join you as soon as you need me.

Whether you’re at home or headed to the hospital, I’ll provide continuous support.

How does the booking process work?

Simply book a chat with me, and we’ll discuss your needs and preferences.

Once we agree on how I can best support you, I’ll reserve your spot and outline the next steps.
